10 distant planets we could live on in the future

Have you ever wondered if humans could live on planets other than Earth? With so many star systems and planets in the universe, the possibility of other planets being habitable is very high. Here are 10 planets where we could live in the future.

1. Mars

Mars is the closest planet to Earth. In fact, NASA is currently working on ways to make it more habitable in the future, including sending out an artificial magnetic field to help bring about the atmosphere. With the right technology, Mars could easily become humanity's new home.

2. Proxima Centauri b

Just four light years away, Proxima Centauri b has 1.3 times the mass of Earth and is on the list of habitable planets. Currently, its surface has a temperature of about -40oC, and the radiation in this area is also relatively large. But with today's advanced technology, it is still a likely candidate to make a new home for humanity.

3. Gliese 667 Cc

Discovered in 2009, this planet is 23 light years from Earth. Although habitable, it is very different from our planet. It has much greater gravity than Earth and the light from its red dwarf star is dimmer, making the planet much darker than our own.

4. Kepler-438b

This planet is more habitable than Earth. According to a paper published in the Astrophysical Journal that compiled data to measure habitability, Earth's habitability rating is 0.829, while Kepler-442b's is 0.836. Unfortunately, this planet is 1,100 light years away. So unless we create super fast spacecraft, or we will never reach this ideal planet.

5. Kepler-452b

This planet is estimated to be 60% larger than Earth, and the star it orbits and its orbit are also very similar to our planet. It orbits its star every 385 days and has the same temperature as us.

6. Wolf 1061c

Just 14 light-years away, Wolf 1061c is one of the closest habitable planets to us. It is in the constellation Ophiucus and orbits a red dwarf star in an 18-day orbit. But, it is not very similar to Earth, being tidal and larger in mass and size than Earth.

7. Kepler-1229b

About 770 light-years away, this recently discovered planet is located in the constellation Cygnus. It is a rocky planet orbiting a red dwarf star with a mass and radius much larger than Earth.

8. Kepler-62f

Located 1,200 light-years from Earth in the constellation Lyra, the planet orbits its star every 267 days and is potentially habitable. It's also 40% larger than our planet, so there's plenty of space to roam around!

9. Kepler-186f

Kepler-186f is considered a habitable planet about 500 light years away.

10. Luyten b

Scientists believe that Luyten b is habitable and that there may be potential life on it. In fact, scientists are so convinced of potential life on the planet, they've sent messages to contact aliens. This planet is 12.4 light years away from us and three times farther than Earth.
