2. Fort Knox Military Base
Not just a military base, Fort Knox is also the gold vault of the world's number one power. Known as the world's largest gold reserve, it contains thousands of tons of gold.
Fort Knox is famous for being impregnable. Completed in 1936 at a cost of just over half a million USD, Fort Knox is designed to withstand any form of attack. In particular, the steel door leading to the gold vault weighs up to 22 tons and is not easily broken.
Security at Fort Knox is rumored to be even tighter than the US Air Force's nuclear arsenal. There are always 30,000 soldiers, tanks, armored vehicles, fighter planes and artillery on duty outside to protect the gold. In addition, Fort Knox is surrounded by a dense electric fence on the ground, challenging any attempt to penetrate. There are also rumors that the land around Fort Knox is buried with many mines.
Today, every year, the Fort Knox gold vault receives dozens of requests for tours, including from several former US presidents. However, all are refused. The principle of Fort Knox is "no guests are welcomed here and no exceptions are accepted".
In addition to gold, Fort Knox is also the place to store valuable documents and assets such as the Magna Carta, the US Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, the British Royal Crowns, etc.
