9. Giro d’Italia
Location: Italy
Only the Tour de France is more renowned than the Giro d'Italia, a cycling event that circles Italy. This competition, which follows a course through Italy and adjacent countries, has been organized annually in May for three weeks since 1909. The event consists of alpine routes that determine the winner, flat courses for fast riders, and "medium difficulty" stages for cyclists trying to advance. Two Italian riders, Fausto Coppi and Alfredo Binda, currently hold the record for the most victories in the Giro d'Italia, each with five victories.
